The School: Matchborough First School

Students right the way from nursery to Year 4 at Matchborough got the opportunity to learn about important employability skills through their first Enabling Enterprise challenge day. They will be following up on these skills later in the year as they complete lesson time projects with a strong skills focus.

The Challenge: Greetings Card Challenge

Across the school students explored the market forces or manufacturing process involved in the greetings card business, gaining an insight into these two dominant areas of employment. The students had a particular focus on developing their teamwork skills through the day.

The Results:

The students really got behind the concept of teamwork and worked together really well to create high quality cards. In Year 4 some of the students are looking to extend the activity and start a cards and stationary shop; whilst in Year 3 the students were showing off just how persuasive their vocabulary can be.

What they said:

  • “I’m really enjoying having the space and opportunity to observe the teams’ dynamics.” – Teacher, Matchborough
  • “In business you need to be wise, and only do the things you have to do.” – Student, Matchborough

Well done to everyone who was involved.
