Throughout the school year of 2009-2010, fourteen students from Feltham took the opportunity to work together as part of the Feltham Community College International Enterprise Club.
The club was held every Tuesday after school, and teachers followed our Enabling French programme, which is taken from our range of courses prepared specifically for secondary school students at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Through the course, the students had the opportunity to learn about the processes involved in setting up a business, whilst exploring French culture and case studies to boost their vocabulary. (For more information on this course, please see here).
The students had assistance from staff from Accenture in setting up their own small businesses, many of which proved to be very successful. In addition, the trip into the City to visit the offices of our partner Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP proved to be one of the highlights of the year, as students were able to meet staff from various departments and quiz them about all aspects of their jobs.
Feedback from the students was incredibly positive. Here are a few of our favourite quotes from throughout the year:
The teachers spoke also spoke enthusiastically of the results. Rachel Heseltine, who has been running the Enterprise Club, commented on the creativity, flair and confidence which each pupil had demonstrated throughout the year.
After having the chance to learn about working life inside an international firm in which languages are crucial for effective communication, 13 out of 14 of the students involved chose to study for a GCSE in French in the coming year. Feltham Community College has now enlarged the programme to allow 30 students to take part in the International Enterprise Club, with demand to take part far outstripping the places available!
