Students from John Perryn and West Drayton Primary schools made the most of the opportunity to visit Oliver Wyman as they took on the role of management consultants to totally overhaul the marketing strategy for a large airline. Aiming to take home a multimillion pound contract, the students split into teams and started on their first challenge.

That first challenge was to identify a gap in the air travel market, the teams looked at appealing to all sorts of different demographic groups. Should they appeal to students, older travellers, families or even the super-rich? Fortunately the teams were not left to go it alone; each team was joined by an Oliver Wyman employee to help them come to the very best solution.

The teams next designed a new marketing campaign based around their target group and backed up with a catchy new slogan. Each team carefully crafted a slogan to appeal to their target group:

For Business customers: “Get your way, fly our way”

For students: “Cheap Chic”


Soon the eye catching posters were finished as well and the students were moving on to tackling inflight sales. By projecting the profits for each item they could sell the students built up a strong portfolio of profits to sell in flight.

Finally the students presented their ideas to the CEO of the company so that he could decide the winning team. Everyone did a really good job throughout the day, well done to all involved!
