Enabling Enterprise celebrated the launch of its new branding, website and courses for 2010-11 in style on Thursday evening. Seventy guests from across the business, education and public sectors gathered at UBS in the heart of the City of London to celebrate the successes of Enabling Enteprise so far, and support us as we continue to develop and expand our approach.

Over welcome drinks in the Atrium, guests had the chance to meet some of the students from Paddington Academy currently involved in our programmes. The students are involved in our Maths course, which has involved choosing a new sport for the Olympics, and around that carrying out and analysing market research, designing a venue, and even working out the financials and risk assessments of the project.

After the drinks, guests heard from Katy Miles at UBS, and then from our main guest speaker Yvonne Roberts. Yvonne is a widely respected journalist who has recently been working for the Young Foundation, and is the author of Grit, which raises the importance of developing the attributes and skills students need to succeed in life, as part of a balanced education. This is a core part of our emphasis on practical learning and skills development.

We also had the opportunity to hear from one of our teachers, Amy Tillotson, and had a great speech from one of our students, Zekel Johnson, who helped explain what he had got out of our English programme.

After speeches, the guests retired to continue the conversations over drinks and nibbles. We’d like to thank UBS and the volunteers there who have helped us so much over the past year, and hopefully this launch showed that there is still a lot more to come.
