“The children (and the staff) had a fantastic day! I would definitely recommend this trip to others!”

Award winning entrepreneurs

“It was particularly brilliant that the founders of the company took the time to come to meet the children – not something I would have ever expected. I think it made a real difference to the day, and inspired the children!”

Twelve lucky pupils (and two lucky staff!) from Year 3 and 4 at Grange Primary School in Newham were invited to visit the Empiric head-office for an exciting day of activities. An awarding-winning, global recruitment agency based in the heart of the City of London, Empiric and their two founders are a great example of entrepreneurship in action. Starting with just two staff in 2005, Sam and Stephan have built Empiric up into a successful and thriving business with over 60 staff based across London and Singapore, and were keen to meet all of the children and impress upon them that with hard work, anything is possible! The teacher’s comments reflected the impact:

Fantastic volunteers

“Everyone was so accommodating and really made the children feel at ease.”

In addition to the Directors’ welcome, the pupils were also given a tour of the offices – a great opportunity to see a business environment in real-life, especially as most of them had never seen one before. We were then joined by three enthusiastic members of the Empiric recruitment team for the rest of the day, who soon formed loyal alliances with their teams, and the challenge quickly got off to great start as teams competed for points as they planned, budgeted, designed and pitched their ideas for a unique Empiric ‘Snack Stop’ to a panel of judges.

The final pitch

After detailed market research and creative brainstorming, the final proposals from each team were ‘Wake Up!’ promoting an energising breakfast to start the day, ‘Flava Burst’ focusing on fun and entertainment whilst you wait, and finally ‘Sweet Break’ selling ice cream, donuts and chocolate for the employees sugar cravings.

With promotional materials ready, speeches written and practiced, it was time for the final pitches. With a panel of four senior managers from Empiric, it was fantastic finale to the day with three great presentations – but unfortunately there could be only one winner. And with much deliberation, it was decided the imaginative use of song, dance, drama, and humour in their pitch, ‘Flava Burst’ were crowned the winners – Well done!
