Students from Grange Primary wowed the employees of construction company Brookfield Multiplex with their inventive design skills, showing off all they have learnt about teamwork from their lesson-time projects. Working in mixed year groups, from Year 3 – 6, these students really demonstrated the right way to work in a team.

A tour of the offices, with views of the site that Brookfield Multiplex are working on, followed by students donning hard hats and high visibility jackets, meant that they were in the zone to learn all about the tough world of construction.
The volunteers from Brookfield Multiplex gave their expert engineering advice, and supported the students to design, budget and build bridges that were not only strong but would draw in the crowds as a key tourist attraction.

Understanding that all the employees at Brookfield Multiplex work in teams, and have to use interpersonal skills to deal with the range of different professionals they work with on a daily basis, Grange Primary showed that they could be equally professional. Clear leaders directed the different groups, with roles allocated and efficient production.

Along with producing extremely imaginative bridges, that included extra facilities for tourist such as cafes and viewing platforms, the students excelled in their imaginative creations. Not only that but they learnt so much too! While one student highlighted how much they had learnt about teamwork and ‘how to work cooperatively’ others gained practical knowledge about ‘how strong triangles are’ and of course, ‘what hard responsibility it is being a builder’. But it was Year 3 student Ella who accurately put the day into words: ‘It was the best day ever!”
