The School:

St John the Baptist RC Primary in Andover is in their first year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, 5 KS2 students took part in an enterprise competition trip to IBM, Hursley. The school have a list of Learning Values such as resilience, respect and curiosity. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Reception to Year 6 to put their values and the 8 essential skills to the test.

The Challenge: Level Up

Over the course of the day, students delved into the world of gaming and used their Working in a Team skills to design and code a new computer game set in their very own school! In a series of tasks based on eight essential skills, such as Using Imagination and Problem Solving, teams needed to reflect on their school values, research computer games and code a platforming game that showcased what makes their school great. The day culminated in EE Games Expo, where each team presented their exciting new game.

What they said:

  • “It’s been fantastic to hear all their brilliant ideas, they have really surprised me today and thought of things I would never have come up with myself!” – Teacher
  • “It has been great to hear the teams in Y2 reflecting on teamwork and what works and what doesn’t. – Teacher
  • “I have enjoyed everything about today, it’s been great working in a team because when you get stuck you can ask your team to help you and we solve the problem together” – Y3 Student
  • “Quote from Student” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
