The School:

St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School is in their 3rd year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing their Essential Skills in enterprising lesson time projects and out on work place visits such as to a construction company last term. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Reception to Year 6 to showcase the improvements made over the year – putting their Essential Enterprise Skills to the test.

The Challenge: Level Up

Over the course of the day, students delved into the world of gaming and used their Working in a Team skills to design and code a new computer game set in their very own school! In a series of tasks based on eight Essential Enterprise Skills, such as Using Imagination and Problem Solving, teams needed to reflect on their school values, research computer games and code a platforming game that showcased what makes St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School great. The day culminated in the EE Games Expo, where each team presented their exciting new game ideas.

What they said:

  • “It’s been a really worthwhile day again…being able to observe the children working in a different way, under different conditions to usual has been great. I have seen some children in a different light too – they have been super creative and presented with confidence.” – Teacher
  • “I’ve liked working in this team today…I wouldn’t have chosen this team but I would in the future. We’ve shared ideas and feel proud of the game we created.” – Student
  • “Would you play this game? I would…you can earn lots of points and there are different levels to travel through…do you like our ideas? I think my team have been great.” – Student
  • “These skills are so important for our children…for us all. Seeing their teamwork and leaderships skills developing is just great. There is a real buzz around the school…what a super opportunity.” – Governor

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
