The School:

Stockwell Primary School is in its third year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing a set of eight essential skills by completing Lesson-Time Projects in their classrooms, but also by taking part in business trips to top employers such as engineering company at BuroHappold, where they excelled on a construction challenge. Today’s unexpected challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 5 to put their Essential Skills to the test once more: let’s find out how they got on.

The Crime Scene Challenge

Over the course of the day, the students worked in teams as police investigators to solve the case of the ‘Sugar Snatcher.’ Following police procedures such as fingerprint analysis and evaluating evidence at the crime scene itself, the students were able to put their Problem Solving skills to the test to help them build a convincing case for who they thought was the guilty culprit. Continuing to practise their Working in a Team skills, it was then time to present their case to the Case Officer.

What they said:

  • “The students have really had to focus on their Staying Positive. We need to keep teaching and developing this skill in our students.” – Teacher
  • “It was important for us to think of the pros and cons when problem solving as detectives.” – Student
  • “Police officers have to be really good at Staying Positive and not giving up on their case.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
