The School:

Located in the Slough area, Priory School is in its third year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing their Enterprise Skills by taking on a range of stretching Challenge Days. For example, they’ve launched their very own greeting card companies, investigated a mysterious crime scene on their school premises, and more recently, designed a variety of hybrid transport prototypes fit for future generations to use. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Reception through to Year 6 to put their Enterprise Skills to the test once more with gusto, this time honing in on Working in a Team and Using Imagination.

The Challenge: Level Up

Over the course of the day, students delved into the world of gaming and used their Working in a Team skills to design and code a new computer game set in their very own school! Teams took on a series of tasks based on eight Enterprise Skills which dove-tail perfectly with their school’s values of Positivity and Teamwork. Using Imagination and Problem Solving, the aspiring coders and designers needed to reflect on their school values, research computer games and create a platforming game that showcased what makes their school great. The day culminated in an EE Games Expo, where each team enthusiastically presented their exciting new game.

What they said:

  • “The reason they’re so engaged is because they already know what the end product looks like, which makes is so much more meaningful and gives that much more context.” – Teacher
  • “I wish we could do this all the time!” – Teacher
  • “We faced some issues in our team today, and we had to work around that. For example at the beginning we argued a bit, but then I realised I needed to change my language for my team to really come together – and it turned out well.” – Student
  • “It was hard doing this character, because I kept going wrong, but I tried and tried again – now I’m happy!” – Student
  • “We think we’re the best team today because we’ve been really creative, especially when we were putting our game map together.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
