The School:

Oaklands Primary School is in their fifth year working with Enabling Enterprise. Back in school, students have been busy developing their Enterprise Skills by designing their own video game. Today’s trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to put their Listening Carefully and Using Imaginaton skills to the test with the support from professional business volunteers.

The Business:

London Business School offers world class business masters and non-masters for postgraduates, giving them the advantage of global links and international recognition. Their programmes have been given the accolade of being amongst the world’s best, according to the Financial Times.

The Challenge: Uni-que University

The day started off with the students using their Listening Carefully skills by interviewing the student ambassadors to find out about their different experiences at university and the Enterprise Skills required to do their courses. Students then went on a tour of the University, which allowed the teams to see the great variety of jobs people do on site to keep everything running smoothly.
Over the course of the day, teams explored what makes a university, before researching and designing their own dream university as a way of channelling their Using Imagination skills. The day culminated in group presentations to student ambassadors from the University, designed to persuade prospective future students to study there.

What they said:

  • “They’re really engaged – working excellently in a team and being really creative together.” – Teacher
  • “I really think it’s amazing, what you’re doing – how you tailor each exercise to specifically build certain skills. Kids spend a huge amount of time at school so it’s really important to teach these skills actively. I would definitely do this again.” – Volunteer
  • “I really like it here – the open spaces make you feel calm and make it easier to concentrate. I’d love to study here.” – Student
  • “It was loads of fun putting our ideas together, even if it’s a shame that we sometimes can’t use everyone’s ideas.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great trip day!
