The School:

Located in the London Borough of Enfield, Eversley Primary is in its second year of working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing a set of eight essential skills by visiting top businesses such as Argos and Exterion Media. Last year, the whole school also took on a mission to set up a brand new civilisation on a distant planet. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Reception right through to Year 6 to stretch those same eight skills once more with gusto, on a mysterious challenge that was sure to put their Problem Solving and Staying Positive skills to the test.

The Crime Scene Challenge

Over the course of the day, the students worked in teams as police investigators to solve the case of the ‘Sugar Snatcher.’ Following police procedures such as fingerprint analysis and evaluating evidence at the crime scene itself, the students were able to put their Problem Solving skills to the test to help them build a convincing case for who they thought the culprit was. Some detectives even went the extra mile by running a thorough search through the whole playground!
Continuing to practise their Working in a Team skills, it was then time to present their case to the case officer. One thing was certain – they absolutely stretched their skills to the highest standard in order to prove which suspect was guilty.

What they said:

  • “It’s a different day for them and they’re really enjoying it: they’re all so engaged!” – Teacher
  • “I think they’re working better in their teams this year so I’m really pleased to see that!” – Teacher
  • “If you were by yourself it would be boring, but working together is much more fun because we get to help each other and share our ideas. And we get a lot more done.” – Student
  • “Today has inspired me to become a CSI.” – Student
  • “I’ve had the best day – it was a hard case to solve but I’m sure we’ve got the right person.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
