The School:

Cubitt Town Infants are in their fifth year working with Enabling Enterprise. Back at school, student have been busy developing their Enterprise Skills by setting up their very own community café. The school has also successfully completed several Challenge Days, when for example, they investigated a mysterious ‘Crime Scene’ or when they launched their unique greetings card companies. Today’s trip was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 2 to put their essential enterprise skills to the test outside the classroom, this time honing in on Working in a Team and Leading with the support from professional business volunteers.

The Business:

UBS is a global bank, providing services in over 50 countries. Specialising in Wealth Management and Global Asset Management they provide services for high net worth individuals, private, corporate, and institutional clients all over the world. Worldwide, UBS employs 60,099 people who speak more than 130 languages and are citizens of 135 countries.

The Challenge: Wonderful Workers

The day started off with the students interviewing the volunteers to find out about their different roles, responsibilities and the Enterprise Skills required to do their jobs. They were really keen to find out all the top tips they could get from the adults on Working in a Team, Problem Solving and Staying Positive.
Students worked in teams to look at all the different ways that the world of work is similar to being at school. Over the course of the day, teams had the opportunity to visit different work stations, which looked at different types of jobs that people do including finance, human resources, site management and advertising. Teams also earnt money for demonstrating their enterprise skills as well as getting the job one! At the end of the day, students were ready to create their very first CV, followed by a reflection on which job they liked the most as well as how well they had been Working in a Team and Leading.
The UBS volunteers were hugely impressed with the skills our Wonderful Workers had shown!

What they said:

  • “It has been such an amazing day for them. Looking around, every single child is engaged and really enthusiastic about what they are doing.” – Teacher
  • “It was a brilliant day, really energising to do something so different. I was totally taken aback by how much they could do!” – Volunteer
  • “I loved working in advertising. Our poster is really good because we all did different parts and shared our ideas.” – Student
  • “Can we come back tomorrow?” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great trip day!
