The School:

William Tyndale Primary School have been working with Enabling Enterprise for several years. Back in school, students have already been busy developing their Essential Skills by taking part in their ‘Crime Scene‘ Challenge Day. Today’s trip was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 5 to put their Using Imagination and Sharing Ideas skills to the test with the support from Collinson Group’s volunteers.

The Business:

With over 2,000 people in 25 locations world-wide, the Collinson Group offer a range of services to business from loyalty, rewards and benefits to insurance solutions, global assistance and lifestyle benefits. The William Tyndale students were lucky enough to be joined by employees from a range of different departments at Collinson Group and they even got the chance to meet the two CEOs!

The Challenge: Marketing Moguls

The day started off with the students interviewing the Collinson Group volunteers to find out about their different roles, responsibilities and the Essential Skills required to do their jobs. Students then went on a tour of the premises, which allowed the teams to see the great variety of jobs available at Collinson Group.
The Year 5 students took on the role of a marketing team at a new and exciting company that stocks and sells chairs. Teams first undertook crucial market research to find out what features and benefits the Collinson Group employees wanted before Using Imagination to design a brand new chair. It was really important that students were Sharing Ideas with each other so that they could come up with the most creative and innovative design. Next up, the William Tyndale teams decided on the most effective advertising strategy to promote their new product.
The day culminated in teams pitching their design and marketing ideas to a panel of judges in the hope that they could persuade them that their chair was the one to buy.

What they said:

  • “Enabling Enterprise has been so good for this class and their teamwork skills.” – Teacher
  • “Such a great day of collaboration both ways and we learnt things from them as well as the other way around!” – Volunteer
  • “It’s exceeded my expectations for sure!” – Volunteer
  • “We saw Christopher and David and they gave us some good ideas about what to put in our chair and they were the CEOs!” – Student
  • “What I learned at Collinson Group is that it’s not about friendship it’s about what‘s good for the group.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great trip day!
