The School:

Holmfirth High School is in their first year working with Enabling Enterprise. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 8 to put their Enterprise Skills to the test.

The Challenge: Operation Moonbase

Over the course of the day, in two halves, students used their Working in a Team skills to establish a new society on a distant moon called Utopia. A series of challenges required teams to use their Enterprise Skills, particularly practising their Problem Solving, Using Imagination and Listening Carefully. Teams needed to select a crew to support them on their mission, then design a new species of animal to benefit society before finally creating a model of their own dream city. Each group then had to make a series of persuasive pitch at the Intergalactic Trade Fair which gave each team the opportunity to show off their fantastic ideas.

What they said:

  • “The pupils got a lot from today, it was great to see them so engaged.” – Teacher
  • “I really enjoyed today, the students surprised me with how well they got with everything and did so much in the day.” – Teacher
  • “We worked really hard today as a team, we haven’t worked together before but we got on with it and did really well.” – Student
  • “I loved getting to be creative and make the animal, and picking the crew, that was hard to do and include everyone’s ideas but it meant we really had to think about it.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
