The School:

Benthal Primary is in their 5th year working with Enabling Enterprise. Recently, Year 5 students were busy developing their Enterprise Skills by spending the day at the construction firm Carillion. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 1 to Year 5 to put their Enterprise Skills to the test and learn more about the world of politics.

The Challenge: A Day in Politics

Over the course of the day, students had the opportunity to practice their Working in a Team skill by setting up their very own political parties. They dived head first into the world of politics, learning about democracy and carrying out debates before setting up their own political parties. Students were Sharing Ideas about which areas of society they wanted to help and how they might spend their money to support them. Finally, teams held an exciting election to determine who’d created the most persuasive political party!

What they said:

  • “There’s so much in these days. The children absolutely love them and there are lots of cross curricular links that can be made to draw out their learning.” – Teacher
  • “I’ve learnt that politics is about helping people to make a better place to live.” Student, Year 5
  • “We have helped each other to think of new ideas today. I enjoyed thinking of ways to make our playground better and sharing our ideas with the other teams.” – Student, Year 2

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
