The School:

Friern Barnet are in their 6th year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing their Enterprise Skills by setting up their own political parties and creating manifestos designed to improve the country. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 8 to put their Enterprise Skills to the test.

The Challenge: Business in a Day

Students became entrepreneurs for the day by competing in teams to set up a company selling merchandise which could be sold at concerts, festivals or sporting events. Students needed to demonstrate that they were Working in a Team during their whirl-wind tour of business, marketing, investment and finance. Students were also Using Imagination when they developed their company brand: thinking of an eye-catching logo and slogan. They harnessed their Problem Solving skills when they manufactured a prototype of their product which would showcase their creative and financial strategy. Teams were excited to calculate their final profits and use their Presenting skills to pitch for an investment to launch their new merchandise company.

What they said:

  • “It was a great day. I felt the students got a lot out of it.” – Teacher
  • “It was so impressive how every single student presented their work back so confidently.” – Teacher
  • “As team leader, I really had to think about the strengths in my team and how to get the most out of them.” – Student
  • “I did Enabling Enterprise at primary school, and I’m still enjoying it!” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
