The School:

The Grange School is in their second year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, KS2 students took part in a busy Business in a Day Challenge Day developing their Enterprise Skills in small teams. The success of this inspired the school to go ahead with another Enterprise Challenge, this time Operation Moonbase, to launch their Careers Week, providing the 7 – 11 year olds with a fantastic opportunity to put their Enterprise Skills to the test.

The Challenge: Operation Moonbase

Over the course of the day, students used their Working in a Team skills to establish a new society on a distant moon called Utopia. A series of challenges required teams to use their Enterprise Skills, particularly practising their Problem Solving, Using Imagination and Listening Carefully. Teams needed to select a crew to support them on their mission, make decisions about new city designs before finally creating a model of their own dream city. A series of persuasive pitches at the Intergalactic Trade Fair, sharing with KS 1 classes, gave each team the opportunity to show off their fantastic ideas and utilise the skills known to be essential for all future careers.

What they said:

  • “I’m so excited. I loved the last Enterprise Challenge we did…I can’t wait to get started on this one today!” – Year 5 Student, The Grange School.
  • “I love the way that the day is so fast paced – it keeps the children focussed and busy. My class are loving it.” – Teacher, The Grange School
  • “I can struggle to work in a team. I do prefer to work on my own but I know I need to work at this and today I’m really proud of myself that I’ve been a good team member ” – Year 6 Student, The Grange School
  • “My class didn’t want to go out to break or lunch…I have seen them improve their ability to work together and really listen to each other.”– Teacher, The Grange School
  • “Giving the children opportunities to focus on these skills is so important. Today has been a great start to our Careers Week and we will keep referring back to the skills as we learn more about different jobs.” – Teacher, the Grange School

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
