The School:

Nelson & Colne College is in their second year working with Enabling Enterprise. Previously, students have been busy developing their Enterprise Skills by taking part in Challenge Days such as ‘Social Entrepreneur’, the ‘Chocolate Challenge‘ and ‘Commit to Confidence‘. Today’s challenge was a fantastic opportunity for Level 3 students from Year 12 to put their Enterprise Skills to the test.

The Challenge: Future Focus

Over the course of the day, students had the opportunity to explore a range of different careers by completing a carousel of activities. These allowed the students to think about which career sectors interested them the most, and think about which skills would be the most useful in these, such as Presenting, Being Creative and Working in a Team. The day culminated with students creating an action plan for their next steps, reflecting on the skills they used during the day.

What they said:

  • “They worked hard today. They were with students they don’t know but they really got involved and as the day went on, you could see them becoming more confident.” – Teacher
  • “Today has been interesting. It’s made me think more about the skills I need for employment, rather than just always focusing on grades.” – Student
  • “I’m not sure what I want to do after college so is was good to have a taste of lots of different things.” – Student

Thanks to everyone for such a great Challenge Day!
