The School: Warren Farm Primary School

Warren Farm Primary School in Birmingham is an Enabling Enterprise Primary School. This year they are developing key enterprise skills in their students through projects such as the ‘Big Business’ Challenge and ‘Active Minds’. They kicked off their enterprise projects with a Challenge Day where students took on the role as new police recruits to solve a terrible crime committed in the school.

The Business: Bromford, Wolverhampton

Bromford is a leading provider of affordable homes in the UK and owns around 26,000 properties. The company has been in the sector for over 50 years and has been recognised with numerous awards for its work to support the communities it serves.

The Challenge: Spread The Word

Having learnt about Bromford and its fantastic work in the social housing sector providing affordable homes and support for tenants, Year 6 students from Warren Farm were set a challenge to create new mascot for Bromford to promote its services with younger people.

The Results:

Following a tour of the organisation in which the children posed some excellent questions to Bromford employees the Year 6 students set about their challenge. Applying their Working in a Team and creativity skills enabled the teams to design a range of creative mascots to effectively promote Bromford and its services for the community. Sharing Ideas skills came to the fore when the budding designers presented their mascots and what they had learnt about Bromford to the volunteer judges.

What they said:

  • ”Pupils are thoroughly encouraged to become part of the businesses for the day and to think carefully about their special role. Opportunities given to children to ask real questions to real staff members was great and inspiring to see” – Teacher, Warren Farm Primary School
  • “It’s been a great day! Full of energy and ideas. I wish I could have had the opportunity to do this when I was their age” – Volunteer, Bromford, Wolverhampton
  • “I think that the challenge day was really fun! It was great to see real business and ask the staff what they do in their jobs” – Pupil, Warren Farm Primary School

Thanks to Bromford for such a great trip day, and to the children and staff from Warren Farm Primary for coming along.
