The School: Old Moat Community Primary School

In their first year working with Enabling Enterprise, Old Moat have hit the ground running focusing on skills across the curriculum. Today, an intrepid bunch of year 5 students arrived ready to put those skills to the test and learn all about the world of work at Aon, Manchester. With an upcoming Challenge Day on the horizon the students jumped straight into the days tricky tasks, challenging themselves to develop all of their Enterprise Skills.

The Business: Aon, Manchester

Aon is a global professional services firm that advises clients on the topics of risk and people. The company is a provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, human resource solutions and outsourcing services. It employs 72,000 people in 500 offices in more than 120 countries and has its headquarters in London. Until 2014 Aon was the principal partner and global shirt sponsor of the Premier League team Manchester United F.C. and still sponsors their Aon Complex, training ground.

The Challenge: Trading Triumphs

Taking on the role of brand new trading companies, the teams’ Problem Solving was tested to the limit as the day saw them Listening Carefully to information about 4 companies before investing £25,000 of their client’s money, Aiming High to make the best and most lucrative investments. Staying Positive was the order of the day as the students made their decisions and discovered the outcomes. Balancing risk and reward they pushed on throughout the day, Working in a Team to ensure everyone was part of each and every step of the journey.

The Results:

The day culminated in a high-pressure feedback and pitch to their client’s representatives. With only one team able to take home the title, every student stepped up to the plate and played their part in the final presentations. Blowing away the judges with their bravery and Sharing Ideas skills, the final decision was difficult and the results extremely close. Every team should be proud of the progress they made and the challenges they set themselves. Well done!
