The School: Audley Primary School

Audley Primary School in Birmingham has been partnering with Enabling Enterprise to develop their students’ enterprise skills for the past four years. Therefore, when the children in Years 1, 3 and 4 were informed that they were being drafted in by the police for a day to help solve a crime that had ravaged the school that morning, they were excited to exercise the skills that they had become familiar with through their Lesson-time Projects, Challenge Days and trips out to a variety of workplaces.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Investigation

The students were tasked with identifying which of the four suspects presented to them was guilty of stealing the school’s chocolate supply. Working in a Team and using their Problem Solving skills, they analysed a variety of evidence, including the crime scene itself, under CSI supervision. The challenge was continuously linked to the process by which real-life criminals are brought to justice, with the students learning a lot about the various jobs that are done by people that are involved in solving crimes.

The Results:

Aiming High, the students in all three year groups were determined to find the culprit. The teams worked together effectively and cohesively to decide which suspect was guilty, and all presented their decisions to their classmates with convincing interpretations of the evidence, Sharing Ideas really well. The majority of teams across the key stages correctly identified the criminal, pointing to the tremendous success of the day!

What they said:

  • “Our team is working well together…I know because we are helping each other and we are smiling.” – Student, Year 1 Audley Primary School
  • “I have loved today! The children have loved today. They are so engaged and excited. Some of the children who often struggle with concentration have really been motivated. It’s great to see their skills developing and them understanding why the skills are so important. ” – Teacher, Audley Primary School
  • “I like it when we work together like this…it isn’t always easy but we Aim High and we don’t give up.” – Student, Year 3 Audley Primary School

Well done to everyone who was involved.
