The School: St Augustine’s CE High School

St Augustine’s CE High School in Westminster has been working with Enabling Enterprise for the past six years, to develop enterprise skills in their students. Earlier in the year, students joined volunteers at PWC on a business trip but today was a chance for the whole of Year 8 to hone their Working in a Team skills with a fast-paced challenge in school.

The Chocolate Challenge

The Year 8 students were presented with a dilemma to solve: how could they help turn around the fate of a struggling confectionary business, the Traditional Chocolate Company? Through Working in team , students thought carefully and creatively about how best to approach the challenge of appealing to a new target market of teenagers. By using market research and Sharing Ideas, they developed some great plans to make their business thriving again.

The Results:

The teams Using Imagination and Positivity paid off: at the end of the day, teams had come up with some brilliantly inventive new chocolate box designs. Through perfectly professional presentations, teams shared their inspirations and reflected on what they had done well.

What they said:

  • “It is really good to see them have the opportunity to work in a group across a whole day: it is the kind of challenge they don’t usually undertake.” – Teacher, Year 8
  • “It was hard when you had to think about how to get all of your ideas in and make sure your box made a profit as well, but I think it was good to have the problem to solve.” – Student, Year 8

Well done to everyone who was involved.
