The School: The Hart School
The Hart School in Rugeley is a CET Secondary School in their first year of working in partnership with Enabling Enterprise. As part of the Creative Education Trusts set of challenge days, students in Year 8 worked in teams to develop their skills whilst exploring the world of business. Teams were awarded lots of enterprise skill points, focusing on Problem Solving, Working in a Team and Aiming High. Let’s find out how they got on.
The Challenge: Business in a Day
The Business in a Day challenge, was specially selected to get students Working in a Team as young entrepreneurs. Competing to set up their own company, the eager year 8 students were tasked with designing, making, marketing and selling special souvenirs for a specific event, place or customer.
Working in a Team and Being Creative were certainly put to the test for the day. It was great to see the students developing Staying Positive skills, particularly when it came to making quick decisions that the whole group were happy with. The teams showed excellent Problem Solving with maturity if any disagreement arose. The challenge culminated with students maximising their Presenting skills as they showed off their products and explained the process involved in creating their masterpieces. After a busy day in their classrooms, teachers were proud of what their students had achieved during the day.
What they said:
- ” Students and staff were all engaged with the programme and there was a positive buzz around the school. ” – Teacher, Year 8
- “We found it challenging at the start of the day but we managed to overcome this and work together.” – Student, Year 8
Well done to everyone who was involved.
