The School: Cubitt Town Infants’ School

Year 2 at Cubitt Town Infants’ School in Tower Hamlet have recently started the Community Café lesson-time project. Today was an excellent opportunity for students to continue to develop their enterprise skills and stretch their Working in a Team and Using Imagination skills alongside adults in the world of work.

The Business: Clifford Chance, London

Clifford Chance is a multinational law firm. It is one of the ten largest law firms in the world and employs over 3,400 lawyers. Today the 6- and 7-year olds from Cubitt Town were joined by volunteers from Clifford Chance as well as volunteers from investment bank J.P. Morgan, who are a client of Clifford Chance.

The Challenge: Delightful Do’s

Having considered what the law is and been introduced to some of Clifford Chance’s well-known clients, students went on an exciting tour of the impressive office, with the Canary Wharf skyline on full display. Back in the conference room, students set about planning an exciting event party for Clifford Chance’s clients.

The Results:

Teams used their imagination to come up with original themes for the party. One team decided on a multicultural theme including flags, cuisines and performances from countries around the world. The dress-code would be to come as the country you are from. Another team was inspired by the swimming-pool facility at the Clifford Chance office and open for a pool party with lots of games so people get to know each other.

With themes, entertainment and decorations all agreed, students applied their Problem Solving skills to the budget. The day culminated with a show-and-tell where volunteers quizzed students about their party ideas.

What they said:

  • “A really well-planned day, the students have been engaged all day and the activities were just right for their level.” – Teacher, Cubitt Town Infants’ School
  • “It’s been really fun, and very valuable for the students.” – Volunteer, J.P. Morgan
  • “It was a very refreshing experience, fast-paced and fun. A very different kind of challenge compared to my job.” – Volunteer, Clifford Chance
  • “I learned that you have to think about lots of things when planning a party.” – Student, Cubitt Town Infants’ School
  • “I enjoyed sharing our ideas with the helpers.” – Student, Cubitt Town Infants’ School

Thanks to Clifford Chance for such a great trip day, and to Year 2 from Cubitt Town Infants’ School for coming along.
