The School: Kenmont Primary School

Kenmont Primary School, based in Hammersmith, have been working with Enabling Enterprise for 4 years. The school is very committed to developing the 8 challenge skills in their students. They have previously completed the ‘Day in Politics’ and ‘Crime Scene’ Challenge Days, as well as designing a new society on a distant moon in ‘Operation Moonbase’.

The Business: Oliver Wyman, London

Oliver Wyman is an international management consultancy company, helping businesses to solve their biggest challenges. Most recently, this has included the re-branding of Starbucks and McDonald’s.

The Challenge: High Fliers

The students were transformed into Management Consultancy firms as they took on a big challenge! They were tasked with the responsibility of creating a marketing campaign and an in-flight magazine for United Jetways in order to improve the finances of the struggling airline.

Working in a Team, they identified target audiences from families to business people and students to elderly people. From this moment on it was clear that we were working with teams with excellent Using Imagination skills, as their ideas to drum up sales included posters with eye-catching images and superb slogans. Management Consultants new and old were clear that the key was to ask lots of questions and to really target their markets in order to solve the problems of existing companies. For example, teams targeting families included special offers cheaper tickets for a group.

The Results:

There were fantastic ideas from all the teams, with slogans such as ‘We Fly High for You’. It was clear that the new Management Consultants had understood their project brief and were able to Share their Ideas effectively and communicate with their target audiences, in order to improve the airline company. The day culminated in presentations to the panel of judges from Oliver Wyman to see who had met the brief successfully, and the children not only demonstrated fantastic Creativity, but also Working in a Team and Aiming High skills in delivering their excellent presentations.

What they said:

  • “An invaluable day for our students to continue their skills development and see the working world.” – Teacher, Kenmont Primary School
  • “It’s amazing to see what these students can achieve at this age. Excellent team work and confidence seen throughout the day.” – Volunteer, Oliver Wyman
  • “I really enjoyed being a consultant today. I really liked rebranding the airline and working with my friends to do it.” – Student, Kenmont Primary

Thanks to Oliver Wyman for such a great trip day, and to Year 4 from Kenmont Primary School for coming along and making it so enjoyable.
