The School: Brunswick Park Primary School

Brunswick Park Primary School in Barnet have been working with Enabling Enterprise for many years to develop their students’ enterprise skills. Already this year, the whole school took part in the Operation Moonbase Challenge Day where students had to use their Working in a Team and Using Imagination skills to build a new society from scratch on a distant planet.

The Business: Nabarro, London

Nabarro LLP is an international law firm head-quartered in London with origins dating back to the 1950s. Nabarro employs over 800 staff across offices in London, Sheffield, Manchester, Brussels, Singapore and Dubai. The Year 4 Brunswick Park students were lucky enough to be joined today by volunteers from the legal and marketing departments. The students had the chance to quiz the volunteers about their jobs and they even went on a tour of the offices!

The Challenge: Ace Advocates

Inspired by the volunteers from Nabarro, teams formed a company of passionate solicitors, representing a client in a highly contentious negotiation task. Working against another team, the groups were given a wide range of key information about their particular case and were Listening Carefully and Sharing Ideas to ensure they created a persuasive presentation to convince the judges of their argument.

The Results:

At the end of the day, each team of solicitors stood up and presented passionately in favour of their client before trying to reach a compromise with the opposing side. It was brilliant to see the Brunswick Park teams using their Listening Carefully and Problem Solving skills to negotiate and try and find a solution that everyone was happy with.

What they said:

  • “The students learned how to share ideas clearly and how you can reach a compromise.” – Teacher, Brunswick Park Primary School
  • “Their presentations showed confidence in their team and, even more impressively, they made quick decisions to try and reach their compromises.” – Volunteer, Nabarro
  • “My favourite part of the day was being able to explore the office and see what jobs everyone was doing.” – Student, Brunswick Park Primary School

Thanks to Nabarro for such a great trip day, and to Year 4 from Brunswick Park Primary School for coming along.
