We’re delighted to be working with Argos, the latest employer to join the Enabling Enterprise partnership. Having recently completed our first students visit together at the Holloway Road Store, we are looking forward to visits across several flagship stores in the Spring.
The Partner: Argos
The Argos brand is household name and it’s hard to find a high street or retail park without one. The catalogue retailer has over 800 physical stores alongside online trading and is part of The Home Retail Group together with Homebase and Habitat. Home Retail Group’s recent merger with Sainsbury’s has created the UK’s biggest retail company.
As the recent visit to the Holloway Store highlighted, students are often unaware of the range roles beyond ‘Shop Assistant’. For Enabling Enterprise our partnership with Argos is an excellent opportunity to showcase the range of career opportunities in the retail sector: from management to logistics.
We are excited about working together to run Enabling Enterprise student visits at 5 Argos stores in London in Spring 2017 and exploring opportunities in the West Midlands and North West.

What they say:
We caught up with Steve Warboys, South Divisional Manager to get our partner’s perspective:
EE: Which three Enterprise Skills best sum up Argos?
SW: Looking at the eight Enterprise Skills, I would pick out Aiming High, Working in a Team and Listening and Understanding. In retail, customer service and innovation are very important, we are always striving to do our best. To provide the best service we have to listen to customers and colleagues and work together.
EE: Why is Argos working with Enabling Enterprise?
SW: It’s important for children to develop vital skills like teamwork and to experience what the world of work is like. Hosting Enabling Enterprise visits is a great opportunity for our colleagues give something back, share their diverse skills and support students to achieve this.
EE: What impact would you like the partnership with Enabling Enterprise to have?
SW: We are pleased to support Enabling Enterprise’s mission and with our network of over 800 UK stores we’re looking forward to working with many more students. We hope the partnership will help us do more to support children and young people and inspire them about the diverse range of opportunities within our business.
