The School: Ravenor Primary School

Ravenor Primary School, based in Greenford, are in their first year of Enabling Enterprise. This year, the school are focusing on developing the enterprise skills of their Year 5 students, through projects, a challenge day and a trip. The students have previously completed the Number Games project and are looking forward to their Active Minds project later this year!

The Challenge: Operation Moonbase

Students stretched their Working in a Team skills through a series of activities to set up a new society on a distant planet. Students needed to take on the role of recruitment managers, designers, architects, builders and advertising executives to complete the task.

In the morning, students were Using their Imagination to design new animals to take to the moon and Problem Solving skills to decide on their crew. In the afternoon, students used different modelling techniques to build a scale model of their new city that would help their new society to thrive.

The Results:

Throughout the day, it was brilliant to see the Ravenor students working together and Leading so effectively, by encouraging each other and making sure they Listened Carefully to each member of their team. It was also impressive to see the students’ use of imagination, as they designed and built very creative Moonbases and animals! The day culminated with the year group reflecting on their use of the skills throughout the day – and huge congratulations from their teachers on their fantastic work.

What they said:

  • “Some of the students have really surprised me with their fantastic ideas. It’s been a great opportunity for them to develop the key skills they need for outside of the classroom.” – Teacher, Year 5
  • “The day has been absolutely brilliant. The imagination and teamwork I’ve seen today has been incredible.” – Teacher, Year 5
  • “I feel really confident with working as a team after today’s mission. I loved using my imagination to design my animal.” – Student, Year 5

Well done to everyone who was involved.
