It was a very busy day for Year 5 students from Rookery School in Handsworth and Year 6 students from Brookvale Primary School in Erdington. Following some fun warm up games, students began to feel more at home in the offices of PwC. The challenge for the day was to set up a Christmas card company from scratch in response to a recent boost in demand. With support from PwC volunteers students planned out each stage of this stretching task and got down to business.

Initially, students had very limited resources and success depended on using these wisely in their designs and selling them quickly so that more resources could be purchased. As trading began a certain buzz took over the room as students rushed to sell cards, buy resources and produce to a high standard.

To sum up the day students put together a presentation where they reflected on their team’s journey and explained why their company was the best. Students impressed the judges with a sound grasp of their finances and quick thinking in responding to questions. Well done to all students who took part and thank you to the PwC volunteers who gave up their time to support the students on the day.
