Students from Manchester Enterprise Academy and Our Lady’s High School came together at the grand offices of PwC in Manchester city centre. Working in small, mixed age teams students got to know their PwC helpers before the main challenge of the day was revealed – to build a prototype bridge at least one metre long!

Before the construction process could begin teams needed to use their negotiation skills to trade resources and then thoroughly plan out the design and construction process with guidance from PwC volunteers. Students put together some fantastic bridges with each team going for a unique design.

Working to tight deadlines teams quickly turned their attention to how they would present their work and persuade the judges that their bridge was the best. The quality of the presentations and enthusiasm of the students impressed the judges and ensured a long deliberation before the winners were finally announced.

The Invincibles took the winning spot with their intricate design and carefully thought out presentation. Well done to them and to everyone who took part. We would also like to say a big thank you to PwC staff for giving up their time to make this such a great day.
