On Friday 25th November, Year 5 students from Plaistow Primary School in Newham got a glimpse of life at top law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Having quizzed volunteers about their work and tested their skills in a game of Zip Zap Boing, students began to plan their strategy for the task ahead – to set up a Christmas card company from scratch and begin production as soon as possible.

Working against the clock students had to make their first batch of cards from limited resources and cleverly reinvest their gains to make sure the next batch could be sold at a premium. With some very creative designs and confident sales pitches all the teams made a staggering profit.

In their final presentations students had to think about the unexpected challenges of the day and show how they adapted when things didn’t go to plan. The Four Super Golden Stars clinched the winning spot with a confident presentation to match their sizeable profits – well done to them!

Our thanks go to the Freshfields volunteers who gave up their time to make this a great day for the students.
