The School: Fossdene Primary School

Fossdene Primary School from Greenwich, London are entering their second year with Enabling Enterprise. They previously have completed the Crime Scene Challenge and visited Lendlease London. As a follow-up to this trip to King & Wood Mallesons, they are taking part in the Legal Eagles project during which students will apply Problem Solving and Sharing Ideas by taking on the roles of paralegals, solicitors and barristers for an entire week!

The Business: King & Wood Mallesons, London

King & Wood Mallesons is an international law firm with 32 offices across Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, employing over 2,700 lawyers. They have represented a wide range of businesses including international airlines and magazines.

Volunteers from across the business joined Fossdene students to lend expert advice and support them throughout the challenge.

The Challenge: Ace Advocates

The students set up their own law firms to research and develop information based on a number of high-profile cases across the country! The students needed to research and consider the needs of each of their clients, build their case and then debate with their rival law firms and come to a compromise. The volunteers from KWM gave insights into how the teams could approach their cases, before helping them to prepare for their presentation in front of the judging panel.

The Results:

Each team aimed high and stayed positive, working hard to research their clients’ needs and situations. They used their Problem Solving skills to develop a case and set their requirements for their rival law firms. Their persuasive presentations impressed the judges and the volunteers were treated to the fantastic communication skills on display in the deliberations. All teams managed to come to a compromise with their rival law firms and were satisfied with the outcome!

What they said:

  • “It has opened up their horizons and I have so many children who are now aspiring lawyers and city workers. A truly inspirational visit!” – Teacher, Fossdene Primary
  • “The students were amazing in the deliberations. I never imagined that students would be able to do this.” – Volunteer, KWM
  • “I loved working on the compromise with the other law firms. I really progressed in my sharing ideas skills today.” – Student, Fossdene Primary School

Thanks to King & Wood Mallesons for such a great trip day, and to Year 6 from Fossdene Primary for coming along.
