The School: Al-Furqan Primary School

Al-Furqan Primary School, in Tyseley Birmingham, began working with Enabling Enterprise in the Summer term 2016. After a very successful Year 2 Community Café lesson-time project with a super celebration event, the rest of the school were ready to embark on a very exciting challenge day. This whole school event was the perfect launch for an enterprising year ahead.

The Challenge: Creative Spaces

Teams were introduced to the challenge in assemblies, explaining they needed to share ideas to design the best community arts centre for their local area. Students from Year 1 to 6 impressed themselves, their friends and teachers, using their enterprise skills, including Working in a Team and Using Imagination

The Results:

During a busy, fast-paced day, the students worked well together in teams to design and build a model of their chosen community arts centre. Each team shared their unique ideas, listening carefully to each other and clearly enjoying the opportunity to collaborate and be creative together. Teachers were thoroughly impressed with the enterprise skills in use in their classrooms and at the end of the day each team were really proud of all their achievements! A great start to an enterprising year at Al-Furqan Primary School!

What they said:

  • “The way my class are using their imaginations on this challenge is just brilliant. They are actually listening to each other sharing. Brilliant.” – Year 4 Teacher, Al-Furqan Primary School
  • ” This is such fun. I love sharing ideas in our team.” – Year 3 Student, Al-Furqan Primary School
  • “A couple of teams could have really struggled today but they have been totally engaged and they have overcome any problems together. I am impressed. I’m loving it too!” – Year 4 Teacher, Al-Furqan Primary School

Well done to all of the students and staff on their first challenge day for their energy and enthusiasm throughout.
