The School: Dairy Meadow Primary

Dairy Meadow Primary, based in Southall Ealing, has worked with Enabling Enterprise for two years. They are passionate about developing their students’ enterprise skills, such as Working in a Team, Aiming High and Staying Positive throughout their curriculum. They run enterprise projects in Year 1 to Year 6 and some of their students have visited our business partners such as Hogan Lovells, Oliver Wyman and London Business School, where they have applied their skill development in the real world. Today was a chance for the whole school to start the new academic year with an exciting Challenge Day.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Investigation

On just their second day of school, the community of Dairy Meadow School had a real problem on their hands. The Sugar Snatcher had yet again deprived another school of their chocolate supply. Four well-known suspects were rounded up and the students took on the role of police recruits to work together to solve this terrible crime.

The Results:

The students across the school were engaged and excited at the task at hand, working diligently in their teams to ensure that evidence was carefully collected, analysed and presented back. It was fantastic to see these new police recruits Listening Carefully to each other, an important skill to demonstrate because as the day progressed, teams were faced with different information which affected their team’s decisions on who they thought was guilty. There was a real buzz about the school as the teams worked against the clock to decide and present back their findings using their persuasive skills, and the students showed real confidence in front of the class. Thankfully, the case of the Sugar Snatcher was successfully solved by many of the students; a huge thanks to the detective skills of all at Dairy Meadow Primary!

What they said:

  • “It has been a great day and very useful to run at the start of term for me to see my new class learning in a different way” – Teacher
  • “I’ve really enjoyed solving the mystery as it made me feel like a real detective, I stayed positive even when I had to change my mind” – Student, Year 6

Well done to everyone who was involved.
