The Enabling Enterprise Summer Forum, on Friday 17th June, took place at one of the inspiring UBS London offices, in the centre of the capital’s buzzing business district. Senior leaders and teaching staff came together to listen to examples of best practice within existing EE schools and to learn from one another how to successfully embed enterprise teaching in their own school curriculum.

Sharing Ideas, sharing best practice

The session proved to be a valuable experience for those who attended, as old and new EE Champions listened attentively to ideas which were already being implemented by Deputy Head Carol Dickson at Five Elms Primary, Teacher Riaz Khan at Brookland Juniors’ and Head teacher Janice Owens from Longlands Primary School. Our three speakers shared their positive experience on the different ways they have worked with school staff, EE staff and parents to instil the teaching of enterprise skills within their own schools.

The Results:

Carol spoke enthusiastically about exciting and creative ways to involve parents and the community. Riaz shared examples of how his school are embedding the language of the skills into their learning objectives. Finally, Janice discussed how the enterprise projects were having a progressive impact due to utilising the ongoing support sessions from their dedicated Education Associate.

Soon after, teachers began a carousel of activities before thinking ahead to the next academic year and putting plans into place to ensure enterprise would continue to thrive within their schools. Many teachers commented on how this forum provided the opportunity to reflect on the year gone by and allowed them to spend quality time thinking about how to move forward with all their new ideas.

What they said:

  • “Every element of Enabling Enterprise has really inspired our students.” – Teacher, Brookland Juniors’
  • “When I signed up to EE it was because I needed something to enliven our curriculum. This programme has given my staff the confidence to take a leap of faith into something new.” – Head Teacher, Longlands
  • Thank you to everyone who was involved!
