The Enabling Enterprise team travelled to Haggerston School on Tuesday the 27th of September as the entire Year 8 group embarked upon an epic maths challenge. The whole year group was off timetable for the day and there was a buzz in the air as students filed into their classrooms, ready to take on the task.

As the morning began they were given their briefing: to come up with a unique way of packaging and marketing a new chocolate bar. With their teachers guiding the way, each group got to grips with what it means to be enterprising before being split into teams to kick off the challenge. The day was divided into 5 sessions involving different activities. Each team carried out market research and put their maths skills to the test by formulating graphs, working out their expenditure and profits and building 3D prototypes.

Having collated their work and added the finishing touches to their packaging, they presented their new product to the whole class: not bad for a day’s work! Well done to all the teams and thanks to the teachers at Haggerston School who helped make it such an enjoyable day!

This challenge day was an example of one of our bespoke courses, which are developed to meet the needs of each individual school. To find out more, have a look at our bespoke page.
