The School: Little Ealing Primary School

Little Ealing is a long-standing Enabling Enterprise school based near the heart of Ealing. They have taken part in a number of different Challenge Days, as well as Year 4 and Year 6 having participated in Lesson Time Projects over the course of the year. Today was an excellent opportunity for the whole school to further develop their eight enterprise skills as they took part in the Crime Scene Challenge.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Challenge

Students were introduced to their challenge with an assembly at the start of the day, where they learnt that the serial criminal termed the ‘Sugar Snatcher’ had now struck at Little Ealing – he or she had broken into the school and stolen all the chocolate in the dead of night! Pupils were going to have to spend the day Working in a Team and Problem Solving to analyse various kinds of evidence, and evaluate how each piece of evidence might link to the four suspects, ready for their presentation to the case officer at the end of the day.

The Results:

Students from all classes expertly demonstrated their enterprise skills throughout the day as they professionally investigated and analysed the different kinds of evidence, including physical evidence, audio recordings, and witness and suspect statements. When it came to presenting their theories at the end of the day, adults from Enabling Enterprise were impressed with the confident and comprehensive nature of the presentations, which were a clear demonstration of the excellent teamwork of all the teams across the school.

What they said:

  • “They’ve really enjoyed today’s activities, and it’s been great to see teams being really accommodating of others and ensuring that all team members have had a role to play.” – Teacher, Year 6
  • “I had fun today because I enjoyed doing lots of different kinds of activities. My favourite part was putting all the clues together to decide which suspect was guilty!” – Student, Year 5

Well done to everyone who was involved.
