The School: Claremont Primary School

Claremont Primary School have been working with Enabling Enterprise since Summer 2015 and have completed A Day in Politics and their Lesson Time Projects. Today pupils from years 3 – 6 came to Brewin Dolphin to Aim High and try their hands at being Investment Managers.

The Business: Brewin Dolphin in Manchester

Brewin Dolphin is one of the UK’s leading wealth managers. They work with individuals, charities and pensions funds. Brewin Dolphin have worked in Manchester since the 1840s and are currently based at the heart of Spinningfields.

The Challenge: Invest for Success

By Listening Carefully to the support and advice from the Brewin Dolphin volunteers the pupils from Claremont had to act as advisors to their clients and help them invest their life savings. Having learned about risk and benefit it was down to the teams to work together to decide whether to play it safe or take a chance. Could they Stay Positive and Invest for Success?

The Results:

The pupils Aimed High all day and managed to Stay Positive as they found out whether their investments had gone up or down. Their presentations proved they were excellent at Sharing Ideas and that they could reflect on how they had Worked as a Team in order to do their best for their clients. The judges had a tough job choosing a winner and their teachers were proud of how well their students had worked all day.

What they said:

  • “I was so proud of how well they worked together with students from other year groups. They not only made great teams, they have all made new friends.” – Teacher, Claremont Primary School
  • “This trip introduces really difficult concepts to the pupils, I was really impressed with how well they tackled the challenge and grew in confidence as the day went on.” – Volunteer, Brewin Dolphin
  • “Today has really helped me improve my Team Work skills, I learnt how important it was not to rush ahead of the rest of your team and not to underestimate other people.” – Student, Claremont Primary School

Thanks to Brewin Dolphin for such a great trip day, and to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 from Claremont Primary School for coming along.
