The School: Powell’s CE Primary School

Located in Cirencester, Powell’s CE Primary School is a longstanding partner of Enabling Enterprise, having worked on Lesson-Time Projects and Challenge Days for over five years. On this day, 30 Year 4 students had the opportunity to develop their enterprise skills even further by putting them to use in the world of work.

The Business: Bromford, Cirencester

Bromford is a leading provider of affordable homes in the UK and owns around 26,000 properties. The company has been in the sector for over 50 years and has been recognised with numerous awards for its work to support the communities it serves.

The Challenge: Spread the Word

Students were challenged to carry out research into the work that employees at Bromford do, and were then set the task of spreading an important message about Bromford’s work. Students had to ensure they were Using Imagination throughout the day to create an exciting and original mascot for Bromford. Once the mascots had been created, students then prepared a professional news broadcast telling the world about their new mascot and spreading the Bromford message.

The Results:

Every team created a different mascot with different properties, from talking houses to supportive guide dogs, but the message emphasising the importance of Bromford’s work was clear and well-understood by every team. The high quality mascots produced were a clear sign of the fact that every student from Powell’s had been constantly Working in a Team and Aiming High throughout the day. The volunteers from Bromford were impressed not only by the innovative mascots, but also by the confidence of the students in presenting their ideas, and so had a very tough job picking a winning team for the day!

What they said:

  • “The structure and activities really motivated children who were extremely engaged and enthusiastic. It was lovely to see the children learn and excel in an environment away from the classroom.” – Teacher, Powell’s CE Primary School
  • “I enjoyed having a break from the normal working week, and I feel like working with the students has helped me improve my confidence too!” – Volunteer, Bromford
  • “I really liked working in a team, and I’m proud of my team for staying positive all day.” – Student, Powell’s CE Primary School

Thanks to Bromford for such a great trip day, and to Year 4 from Powell’s CE Primary School for coming along.
