The School: Kenmont Primary School

Kenmont Primary school, located in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, is a one form entry Partner School with Enabling Enterprise and has been working with us for three years. Across the school, Kenmont students have been developing their enterprise skills both inside and outside the classroom. Throughout the year, students from Year 1 to Year 6 have been taking part in Lesson-Time Projects. Today was another excellent opportunity for the students to put their enterprise learning and skills development to the test.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Investigation

A terrible crime has been committed in school and it is down to the students to work tirelessly in their teams, assessing the evidence and Listening Carefully to audio tapes to work together to solve the mystery. Working in teams of crime-cracking detectives and Problem Solving private-inspectors. Can they piece together the clues and work together to determine their key suspect?

The Results:

After an intriguing introduction to the Crime Scene Investigation Challenge Day in a whole school assembly, the students quickly made their way back to their classrooms to start Using Imagination in coming up with creative, crime solving team names. Each year group took opportunity to visit the scene of the crime in order to assess the evidence left behind by the Sugar Snatcher! With a focus on Staying Positive, Year 3 worked hard to develop their resilience despite a challenging set of team based tasks. However, there was a buzz of activity throughout the entire school and, over the course of the day, it was brilliant to see the students of all ages Problem Solving and Working in a Team.

What they said:

  • “Over the course of this year I’ve seen how project-based enterprise education can be slotted into any subject. I can use Enabling Enterprise as an English teacher to teach skills across the curriculum” – Teacher, Literacy Intervention
  • “Today the children have worked in small groups with students they don’t normally work with and it has been great to see them develop their problem solving skills when working in a team ” – Teacher, Year 1
  • “I thought today was really fun and I can’t wait to find out who stole the chocolate. Me and my team didn’t all think the same but then we had a vote so that it was fair” – Student, Year 2

Well done to everyone who was involved.
