The School: Newport Primary School

Year 5 students from Newport Primary School in Leyton, travelled into Kings Cross to spend the day at OMD, one of the capital’s most creative media agencies. The pupils from Newport talked about their most recent Challenge Day where they needed to form their own political parties and create manifestos. This showed that these students were already super confident in using the enterprise skills and would be more than ready for the OMD challenge.

The Business: OMD, London

OMD is one of the most forward-thinking, creative, effective and innovative communications agencies in the UK. They have won numerous industry awards and clients currently include Walkers, Sony, Levi’s and many more organisations.

The Challenge: Disney Infinity

The day kicked off with help from OMD and a team of Disney experts who had popped along to support teams with the challenge. The students interviewed the experts to learn as much as possible about their job roles and how the enterprise skills are important in their lives. Soon after, students were introduced to the Disney Infinity brand, who would be their clients for the day. The task required each to work together and use their imaginations to create a range of inspiring new slogans and characters to represent the Disney Infinity video game.

The Results:

Over lunch, students continued working as they carried out market research through demoing the Disney Infinity video game and meeting some existing characters. Even though they were working under a tight deadline, the teams succeeded in sharing plenty of exciting ideas for their slogans and new Disney Infinity characters. The OMD and Disney experts alike were blown away by the array of imaginative ideas across the room. Teachers also commented on how impressed they were with the maturity demonstrated during teamwork exercises.

What they said:

  • ” They’ve showed they could really step up to support their teams today.” – Teacher, Newport Primary
  • “These ideas are so original and like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” – Volunteer, OMD
  • “We’ve worked as a team and used our imagination to make the most awesome superhero. If we don’t win this one we’ll win the next.” – Student, Newport Primary

Thanks to OMD for such a great trip day, and to Year 5 from Newport Primary for coming along.
