The School: St Mary Magdalene School

St Mary Magdalene School in Southwark has been working with Enabling Enterprise over this year to build their skills. Classes in Year 3, 4 and 5 have completed projects but today was a chance for the whole school to get involved as part of preparations for their Enterprise Fair later in the year.

The Challenge: Greetings Card Challenge

The day started with an assembly where the challenge was set: could the students set up their own greetings card companies to produce brilliant and professional cards for sale at their Enterprise Fair? As an added challenge, students would have to produce their cards as a production line and try to link it to the Olympic-theme for their Enterprise Fair.

The Results:

Demonstrating outstanding teamwork skills and imagination, students worked hard over the day to create their perfectly professional cards. It was particularly impressive to see students in Key Stage 1 working together to create uniform cards that closely reflected their designs. The day ended in presentations with each team having the opportunity to feedback to the rest of their class.

What they said:

  • “It’s been really interesting to see the group dynamics and how they interact when faced with a challenge. I think they’ve got a lot out of it.” – Teacher, Year 2
  • “I am really proud of the way our cards look and we used lots of different people’s ideas to make it such a good design.” – Student, Year 4

Well done to everyone who was involved.
