The School: William Tyndale Primary School

Students at William Tyndale Primary school have already taken part in a range of enterprise projects this year as well as a memorable ‘Operation Moonbase’ in a whole-school Challenge Day. Having set the bar this high in terms of their enterprise skills, those specially selected Year 3 students were ready to show off their enterprise skills on this enterprise trip to law firm Nabarro.

The Business: Nabarro, London

Nabarro LLP is an international law firm headquartered in London. Nabarro employs over 800 staff across offices in London, Sheffield, Manchester, Brussels, Singapore and Dubai.

The Challenge: Listen Up Lawyers

The William Tyndale students started the day by finding out about the law firm Nabarro and by quizzing the Nabarro volunteers about their jobs and which skills they use every day. The teams of Year 3 students were then set their challenge: to work as a law firm using their Problem Solving and Listening Carefully skills in order to act as either the prosecution or defence for some of their favourite Harry Potter characters. This task required the students to analyse multiple pieces of evidence and to share ideas in order to decide what the best arguments were, and which pieces of evidence were most relevant to back up their case. The William Tyndale students were also treated to a tour of the premises at Nabarro, where they could see the enterprise skills at work in the many jobs that exist at the law firm.

The Results:

The day ended with three captivating trials where each law firm persuasively presented their side of the case in defence or prosecution of their client. The Year 3 William Tyndale students really rose to the challenge and all the adults in the room were very impressed with their eloquent rebuttals to the opposing team’s arguments!

What they said:

  • “It’s been a brilliant day and so great for students to have the time to talk to adults about their jobs and when they use the enterprise skills.” – Teacher, William Tyndale Primary School
  • “It’s such a great opportunity for students to really find their voice. It was brilliant to see a really shy student speak so confidently in the final court case!” – Volunteer, Nabarro
  • “We definitely got better at problem solving throughout the day and thought about what other information we could use to make sure that we proved our person was innocent!” – Student, William Tyndale Primary School

Thanks to Nabarro for such a great trip day, and to Year 3 from William Tyndale Primary School for coming along.
