The School: Benthal Primary School

Benthal Primary School students are experts in using enterprise skills. This is the second of three Challenge Days they will be taking part in this year. Students were keen to build on the team work skills they had worked so hard on during their Greetings Card Challenge.

The Challenge: Operation Moonbase

The day started with a shock announcement in assembly: we have to get ready to leave Planet Earth! Benthal students had been selected to come up the different elements of a brand new society on a faraway planet: the people, the animals and the buildings. They had to work in teams and use their imaginations before presenting all of their ideas at the end of the day.

The Results:

Benthal teachers and the EE team were hugely impressed with the imagination shown by all teams. Fire-breathing giant kangaroos and huge sports centres decorated in flags of every country on Earth were just some of the ideas! Teams also dealt really well with all the different challenges that came their way, staying positive and solving problems.

What they said:

  • “The children get so much out of doing activities like this, it’s really good when they get to lead their own learning.” – Teacher, Benthal Primary School
  • “I really liked it when we worked in a team and included everyone’s ideas in our design because it made it feel really special.” – Student, Benthal Primary School

Well done to everyone who was involved.
