The School: Fossdene Primary

Students at Fossdene Primary School in Greenwich began learning about how to use enterprise skills earlier this year through their lesson time projects. Projects were run in every year group and students gained a wide range of experiences, from designing a new chocolate bar to recycling materials to make new toys. Their challenge day would be an exciting opportunity to put their enterprise skills to the test.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Challenge

It was due to be a quiet day at Fossdene, until it was discovered all of the chocolate in the school had been stolen! Working in teams, students were set the challenge of analysing lots of different pieces of evidence to decide who could have committed this crime. They had to listen carefully to make sure they had all the facts before making their final decision and presenting it back.

The Results:

Students in each team had to work together to gather all the evidence they could find. They then had to use their analytical problem solving skills to piece together the true version of events from the crime. At the end of the day they shared the ideas with their class and the supervising detective, hoping that they had a strong enough case to prosecute their suspect.

What they said:

  • “It’s been a good day; I don’t think I’ve seen them so excited about school before.” – Teacher, Fossdene
  • “I found extra evidence in the playground, I shared it with my team so that we would be able to include it later.” – Student, Fossdene

Well done to everyone who was involved.
