The Schools: Matchborough First School

Having completed the ‘Day in Politics’ Challenge back at school just a few weeks ago, Year 2 students were certainly up to speed with their enterprise skills before their trip to Bromford. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to put them to the test in a real place of work.

The Business: Bromford, Solihull

Bromford is a leading provider of affordable homes in the UK and owns around 29,000 properties. The company has been in the sector for over 50 years and has been recognised with numerous awards for its work to support the communities it serves.

The Challenge: The Wonderful Office Workspace Challenge

Today’s Challenge was to redesign a new Bromford office to make it an exciting and stimulating place for their employees. This took great creativity, team work and an ability to share ideas. The day started by interviewing the Bromford volunteers about their job to find out what working in an office is really like, then after a tour of the existing offices the children worked hard in teams to come up with new ideas to appeal to the Bromford workforce.

The Results:

Each team created a detailed plan of their dream office and took the volunteers on a virtual tour to highlight their creative ideas and hopefully impress them with their ideas to secure the vote, to be crowned the winning team for the day. It was great to see the children so engaged for the whole day. They showed fantastic team work skills with many of the children also demonstrating excellent leadership skills.

What they said:

  • “The children have enjoyed being in a new environment, working with new adults and have shown good team work and listening skills. ” – Teacher, Matchborough First School
  • “It was great to see all the members of the team taking part in the activities today” – Volunteer, Bromford
  • “I’ve really enjoyed walking around the offices today and acting out all our ideas for the volunteers” – Student, Matchborough First School

Thanks to Bromford for such a great trip day, and to Year 2 from Matchborough First School for coming along.
