On Friday, students from Djanogly Academy and Dukeries College travelled from Nottingham to the heart of London to spend the day at management consultancy Oliver Wyman. Despite their long journey, the pupils arrived at Baker Street ready and raring to find out more about business and get stuck into their challenge.

After finding out a bit more about Oliver Wyman the students had the opportunity to meet several kind volunteers from the company, all of whom were happy to answer their questions during the Careers Carousel. Next, it was time to get down to the main activity for the day: the business challenge. The students were split into teams and, with the help of a volunteer, had to present a pitch on how they would go about transforming a travel company. Ideas ranged from renting out planes to forging business deals with local restaurants. Some pupils wouldn’t have been out of place in the Dragon’s Den as they grilled each other about costs and questioned their business strategies – not bad for pre GCSE!

Well done to all the students for developing such impressive presentations and for demonstrating real teamwork. Our thanks go to the helpful volunteers from Oliver Wyman for making it such an enjoyable day.
