Lift-off at Lippincott!

On Friday, a group of year 9 students from Greenford High School travelled into the heart of London to spend the day at Lippincott, one of the world’s top branding consultancies most recently famed for redesigning the Starbucks logo. The pupils were able to chat to some of the firm’s leading designers and consultants, finding out how they have helped transform companies like McDonald’s and Wal-Mart and drawing particular inspiration from one volunteer who hailed from their very own Southall.

The challenge for the day saw the students having to rebrand a failing airline company. Working in teams and with the help of Lippincott’s kind volunteers, they set about developing a marketing strategy which included inventing a new name and logo and deciding how to appeal to their chosen target market. The teams showed some real creativity and artistic flair – particularly one group which came up with a startling hybrid creation: half aeroplane, half bird, total glamour (thanks to the addition of an enormous gold chain!) They then valiantly presented their ideas to a room of over 40 people.

Well done to all the teams from Greenford for coming up with some really impressive ideas and a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make it such a fun and inspiring day!
