The School: Brunswick Park Primary School

A long-standing partner of Enabling Enterprise, Brunswick Park Primary have become experts at applying their challenge skills. Whether on trips or in previous Challenge Days, teachers have seen students develop their Leadership and their Teamwork skills to the highest standard. Unexpected news saw such skills put to the test during their Crime Scene Challenge.

The Challenge: Crime Scene Challenge

The students at Brunswick Park began the day with a police briefing from Detective Daisy, who told them about the ‘Sugar Snatcher’ and the crime that was committed. All the chocolate had been stolen from the school, and urgent help was needed to catch the ‘Sugar Snatcher’. Students took on the role of new recruits for the police as their challenge set off with a range of evidence to collect and analyse.

The Results:

They had to work in teams to Problem-Solve all day and decide who the culprit was. Throughout the day the teams had to Listen Carefully to each other and Share their Ideas in order to select the most compelling evidence which would prove their suspect guilty. The young detectives also took turns to visit the school’s crime scene where a range of additional clues were collected as accurately as possible.
Teams aimed really high and managed to stay positive as the evidence led to some intense debates in parts. The investigation culminated in a round of impressively professional presentations, where teachers and EE staff alike praised not only the style but also the critical thinking that was demonstrated by the would-be CSIs.

What they said:

  • “I’ve really seen their confidence build up through this challenge, which was a nice surprise.” – Teacher, Brunswick Park Primary School
  • “Today we have been really good at Sharing Ideas and Listening to each other, and we learnt to compromise a lot.” – Student, Brunswick Park Primary School

Well done to everyone who was involved.
